PORT ANGELES – Operation Candy Cane has been around for decades, with the antique fire engine driving Santa Claus through the streets of Port Angeles, handing out candy canes and collecting donations for the food bank. (Although, to be fair, PNW Mobile Detailing and the Port Angeles YMCA stepped up during the pandemic.)

Otherwise, it’s always been sponsored by the Port Angeles Fire Department and stuck to the streets of the city, and they will be doing this year along the traditional route December 10-15. Last year, Clallam 2 Fire Rescue expanded the program to locations outside the city, and they’ve just announced they’re doing it again this year.

Clallam 2, with support of the Port Angeles School District and Port Angeles Food Bank, will be conducting Operation Candy Cane by visiting two elementary schools outside city limits. So, instead of Santa in the decorated fire engine coming to your neighborhood, they’ll be setting up shop at Roosevelt Elementary School on Friday, December 2nd from 6-8pm, and again at Dry Creek Elementary School on Saturday, December 3rd from 6-8pm.

You and your family are invited to stop by with a food donation and visit with Santa and his firefighter and EMT friends from Fire District 2.

The decorated fire engine will be joined by other fire vehicles for the kids to see.
