PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Roughriders boys basketball team got a nice warm up from East Jefferson last night as the Roughriders blew out East Jefferson 87-42. The Roughriders had a cold shooting 1st half from the perimeter. But it did not matter as the Roughriders’ big men, 6’5″ junior Isaiah Shamp and 6’7″ senior Tyler Hunter, took matters into their own hands dominating the paint and the glass. Shamp hit for 21 points and Hunter hit for 16. The Roughriders led 20-13 after the first quarter then outscored East Jefferson 25-8 in the 2nd quarter for a 45-21 lead.  In the 2nd half, the Roughrider gunslingers found their range. Junior Parker Nickerson hit four,3-point shots and took game-high honors with 23 points. Backup point Guard Kason Albaugh, the Roughrider running back star, came off the bench and was outstanding running the Roughriders up-tempo offense and scored 9 points.

The Roughriders will host a solid Foster Bulldog team tomorrow afternoon at 3 pm. Then at 4:30 pm the Roughrider girls will take on W.F. West of Chehalis. Both games will be broadcast live on Newsradio KONP and on the web at myclallamcounty.com. Oly Archibald and Bill Bates will have the live play by play. At half time of the boys game, senior Sara Wilson of the Roughrider swim team will talk about the team placing 5th at the state swim meet in Federal Way.
