PORT ANGELES – One suspect was arrested after an assault near the Olympic Discovery Trail in Port Angeles.

PA Police were called to the report Tuesday. Officers found the victim bleeding heavily from head wounds and reporting that the suspect used a rock that he was holding to strike her several times in the head. Further information indicated that the struggle began near the bank of the creek and that the suspect pulled the victim into the creek during the attack.

The officers tracked the suspect south up the old access road, located him near a dentist office in the 1400 block of East Front Street, and arrested him. Police says the investigation remains open and active.

Initial information about the case indicates that the suspect and victim were acquaintances, and that attempted rape was a possible motive.
