PORT ANGELES – While it’s too early to release a name, we got a call from Port Angeles Police Chief Brian Smith Tuesday morning saying the body of a 50-year-old Port Angeles man was found in a tent on the beach north of Olympic Medical Center.

“OK. So, this morning at about 8:25, an individual came into a gas station convenience store along Front Street and reported that a quote, “dead body been found in a blue tent”. So, officers responded to the area, located a male on the beach, in a tent, who appeared to be deceased. Detectives responded, along with the Deputy Coroner. Investigation did not show any indication of criminal activity. Investigation did show indications of illicit substance use. Officers have identified the individual. He’s been transported. The coroner will have taken possession and will further, through the medical examiner, determine actual cause and manner of death.”

We expect a name of the deceased to be released after next of kin have been notified.
