PORT ANGELES – A longtime Port Angeles police officer and detective is leaving.

Detective Swift Sanchez was honored this week at a heartfelt retirement ceremony after 22 years of service in law enforcement and the U.S. Navy.

Joining the Port Angeles Police Department in 2016, Sanchez was named Officer of the Year and held various roles, including Field Training Officer and School Resource Officer. She also initiated programs like Handle With Care and Shop With a Hero and led the successful 2020 Police Reserve Academy.

Sanchez is moving to full-time duty with the U.S. Navy.
