PORT ANGELES — Clallam County is stepping up enforcement of pet rules after a surge in complaints about unleashed dogs and pet waste.
In partnership with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, county staff will increase patrols at Dungeness Recreation Area, Marlyn Nelson County Park at Port Williams, and Robin Hill Farm County Park, the three parks that have seen the most problems.
County code requires pets to be crated, caged, or on a leash no longer than eight feet, and they must be under control at all times. Owners are also responsible for cleaning up after their pets and using park waste bins or packing it out.
Deputies on e-bikes and side-by-side ATVs will be keeping an eye out for violations. Citations are possible, but the county hopes pet owners will follow the rules so everyone can enjoy the parks without issues.
