PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Healthcare Network has selected Terri Sabella as its next chief executive officer following a national search.

Sabella will begin her role May 18, succeeding Michael Maxwell, who announced plans to retire last year after leading the organization since its creation as a community health center in 2015.

NOHN Board President Suzy Ames said Sabella brings strong leadership experience and the right mix of technical and people skills to support the organization’s mission as a federally qualified health center.

Sabella currently serves as CEO of HealthPoint, a federally qualified health center in Texas, and has more than a decade of experience in health center leadership, health law, and clinical operations. She holds advanced degrees in healthcare management and health policy, law, and nursing.

In a statement, Sabella said she’s honored to join NOHN and looks forward to strengthening access to care, advancing quality, and building on the organization’s foundation while making the Olympic Peninsula her home.

Outgoing CEO Michael Maxwell said Sabella’s experience positions the organization well for the challenges ahead. Maxwell began his medical career in Port Angeles in 1991 and was instrumental in transforming Family Medicine of Port Angeles into what is now NOHN.
