PORT ANGELES — Deadlines are approaching for the April 28 special election, and voters are being urged to check their registration now.
The last day to register or update your voter information online or by mail is April 20, with forms due to the Auditor’s Office by then. After that, in-person registration is available through Election Day at the Clallam County Courthouse in Port Angeles, open until 8 p.m.
Ballots are being mailed April 8 and include a voter pamphlet with details on the ballot measure.
The key issue in this election is a levy lid lift for the North Olympic Library System. The proposal would restore the regular property tax rate to 45 cents per thousand dollars of assessed value.
Library officials say the funding supports about 90 percent of operations, including services in Port Angeles, Sequim, Forks, and Clallam Bay, while critics point to the tax increase.
Ballots must be postmarked or returned to a drop box by 8 p.m. on April 28.
