PORT ANGELES — The ducks are getting ready to fly — and starting Friday, you can get in on the action.
Tickets go on sale for the 37th Annual Great Olympic Peninsula Duck Derby, set for May 17 at the Port Angeles City Pier.
The longtime fundraiser for Olympic Medical Center has grown into one of the biggest events of the season — and a major boost for local healthcare. Organizers say it’s raised nearly four million dollars over the past 36 years.
Here’s how it works: You “adopt” rubber ducks. On race day, thousands are dropped — or rather, plucked — with the winning ticket holder taking home the top prize: a brand new 2026 Toyota Corolla.
There are 37 prizes in all this year, donated by local businesses.
Single ducks go for seven dollars, while “Quack Packs” and VIP — or VID — packages offer bigger chances to win, plus access to a pre-race party.
Race day kicks off with family activities late morning, followed by the VID race just after one, and the main event at 1:30.
Tickets will be available daily at locations across Port Angeles and Sequim — including Safeway stores, Swain’s, local banks, and Wilder Toyota — right up until race day.
Proceeds support equipment, services, and scholarships at Olympic Medical Center.
