No one hurt as firefighters battle RV fire

Clallam County — Clallam 2 Fire Rescue reports no one was hurt when an RV went up in flames Wednesday in the Lower Elwha area.

Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Denton says it was about 8:30pm when they got the call of a mobile home fire. It was reported the unit was fully involved, with reports of explosions heard, likely from propane tanks. They were also told the structure was believed to be unoccupied.

The first firefighters arrived to find a fully involved RV fire. As multiple hose lines were deployed, law enforcement on scene reported hearing multiple explosions and advised that ammunition and propane tanks were believed to be inside the structure.

Denton reports it didn’t take long for crews to knock down the main body of fire and extinguished a nearby cedar tree that had ignited.

Once overhaul was completed and the fire confirmed out, the scene was left with law enforcement and all fire units cleared.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported during the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
