PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Superior Court Judge Christopher Melly has announced he will retire at the end of the year, leaving two years remaining on his elected term.

Melly will have served 5 years in his position by then. He was appointed by Governor Inslee in 2013 when Judge Brooke Taylor retired. Melly ran unopposed in 2014 and 2016 to retain the seat. The remainder of his term will again be filled by an appointment by the governor.

Melly’s background includes 35 years serving Clallam County as Chief Deputy Prosecutor, District Court Commissioner, and Hearing Examiner as well as judge.
