PORT ANGELES – Nathan West, Director of Community and Economic Development in Port Angeles, just got one step closer to taking over the position of City Manager after Dan McKeen retires in September.
The City Council Wednesday night appointed two councilmembers, Cherie Kidd and Mayor Sissi Bruch, to negotiate a contract with West that can be brought back to the council for consideration. We asked McKeen if he expected the process to be completed before he retires.
McKeen’s optimism comes as no surprise, as West has assumed many of McKeen’s duties in the last several weeks to get up to speed. Mayor Bruch says that’s going to make a big difference.
As for the man himself, West sounds raring to go.
