PORT ANGELES – Clallam County’s unemployment rate ticked down slightly last month.
According to data from the state Employment Security Department, the unemployment rate was 6.1% in June, down a tenth of a percent from May. It’s three tenths of a percent lower than a year ago at this time. The local area added about 200 more people to the employed list between May and June.
However the number of people employed and the size of the local labor force have both declined also by about 200 people since June of last year.
Statewide the unemployment rate is substantially lower than Clallam County, now at 4.5%.
