Burglary suspect one step ahead, for now

CLALLAM COUNTY – Deputies and police officers, including Sequim’s K9 team, responded to a home invasion and burglary-in-progress on Labor Day around 5PM. A homeowner living on Mount Angeles Road called in to report that he saw someone inside his house from one of his remote security cameras.
As deputies arrived, they saw a male run from the residence, headed northwest towards the woods. At that point they requested a K9 and additional units to set containment.
Sequim Officer Paul Dailidenas and his dog Mamba found the suspect’s backpack in the bushes. It contained items that were identified by the home owner as being stolen from his house. The suspect was not located, but deputies believe they know who he is.
Evidence at the scene suggested that the suspect was attempting to force open a large gun safe. The residence has been burglarized before and it’s believed to be the same suspect. The case remains open as deputies follow up on leads.
