PA council and City staff gather for retreat/work session

PORT ANGELES – Port Angeles Mayor Sissi Bruch is getting the City Council and City staff together on Friday for what she’s calling a retreat/work session.

A notice released Tuesday says the goals of the retreat are to “reach agreement on the expectations we have of one another so that we can achieve our mutual interests and become more effective leaders” and to “identify strategies and actions by which the City Council and the City Staff Leadership Team can build and maintain an effective partnership to lead Port Angeles to an even brighter future”.

We asked the Mayor whether the retreat is a response to concerns she is having or something she has been wanting to do anyway.

It’s no secret that there have been some contentious disagreements this year among the council. The Indigenous Peoples Day proclamation comes to mind.

But Bruch points out that holding a retreat isn’t a new idea, and was talked about before Nathan West took over as City Manager.

The retreat/work session is open to the public, happening Friday from 9 to 3 at Peninsula College in the Cornaby Center.
