Port Angeles – Port Angeles school officials have settled on a new end of the school year.
Due to all the winter weather earlier this year, the district faced five additional snow make-up days.
That prompted the district to ask the state for a waiver of some of the days. The state granted two days.
The school board has set June 19, 20 and 21st as extra days at the end of the school year. June 24th and 25th were waived. June 21st, the last day of school in Port Angeles, will be a half day.
District officials say with the waived and added days, the district will meet the yearly hourly requirement of 1,027.
The calendar changes will not affect high school graduation dates. As previously planned, Port Angeles High School will hold their graduation ceremony on June 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Civic Field. Lincoln High School’s graduation ceremony will be held on June 20 at 6 p.m. in the Little Theater at Peninsula College.
