LILLIWAUP, Wash. — One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a crash involving a pickup truck and a dump truck along U.S. 101 along Hood Canal 12 miles north of Lilliwaup. The crash happened just before 8:30 this morning.
The impact knocked the truck over, causing it to spill its load of sludge from a nearby pulp mill across the roadway.
The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the dump truck was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The highway was still blocked at the crash site as of 3:20 Thursday afternoon and troopers are urging drivers to find an alternate route.
