HOODSPORT – A Port Angeles man, who recently moved to Olympia, died in a crash around Hood Canal on Highway 101.
61-year-old Ron J. Casey died at the scene of the crash near Hoodsport Thursday morning.
According to the State Patrol, Casey’s pickup was hit in the driver’s side door by a dump truck. The dump truck, driven by 47-year-old Delbert Houk of Port Angeles, swerved after hitting the ditch and crossed the centerline hitting Casey’s vehicle.
Houk was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. His condition was unknown.
The crash, which shut down the highway for more than seven hours, is under investigation.
Casey was a well-known musician in the Port Angeles area. He was a drummer in many local and regional bands. He had moved to Olympia for employment, but maintained a residence in Port Angeles.
