After eluding them in last month’s high-speed pursuit, police arrest suspect coming out of Swain’s

PORT ANGELES – Port Angeles police arrested Albey Braster Thursday, a man they’ve been looking for since he eluded them during a high-speed chase through downtown Port Angeles as well as Monroe, Draper and Mount Pleasant roads on May 22.

Deputies and officers eventually abandoned the pursuit for the sake of public safety, but published Braster’s photo and asked the public for help in locating him.

His undoing began when a sharp-eyed citizen at Swains store in Port Angeles reported to police that Braster was there shopping.

Deputy Chief Jason Viada picks up the story from there.

“A previous investigation by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office developed probable cause for the arrest of Braster on June 6th about 8 p.m. Port Angeles police officers responded to the area of Swain’s to a report that Braster was in the store. As officers were nearing the area, the report was updated to indicate that Braster was leaving in a vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle, determine that Braster was a passenger and took him into custody. This case for PAPD is listed as an other-agency assist. Just one more example of small rural agencies working together.”

Braster, 28, is being held on NO BOND for the charges of Eluding, Reckless Endangerment and Driving While License Suspended.
