Two arrested, animals rescued from Shelton home

SHELTON, Wash. — An investigation into an animal cruelty case led to the arrest of two people and the rescue of dozens of cats, several chickens, and even a couple of horses.

Warrants were served by Mason County Sheriff’s deputies at a home off Lynch Road near Shelton Thursday after neighbors reported the problems to the sheriff’s office.

There, they found 27 cats, seven chickens and two horses that needed to be saved. Pasado’s Animal Rescue was called in to help take care of the animals.

One of the horses was too sick to survive and was euthanized by a veterinarian.

Deputies say animal cruelty charges are expected to be filed against two people. One of those suspects is a 90-year-old man who had been charged with animal cruelty twice before in 1990 and 1994.
