SEATTLE (AP) — A police officer in Washington state has resigned after he was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
KOMO-TV reported Friday that a Lewis County deputy pulled over a speeding car near Morton on July 3.
The deputy recognized the driver as a Morton police officer and a former Lewis County deputy. Reporting the driver appeared to be impaired, he called in Washington State troopers to avoid a potential conflict of interest, at which time officer Christopher Fulton was arrested and cited.
Morton Police Chief Roger Morningstar says Fulton was placed on administrative leave and then he resigned.
Fulton had also resigned as a Lewis County deputy after he was arrested on suspicion of DUI in 2014.
