PORT ANGELES – Matthew Wetherington, charged with four counts of Aggravated Murder in the First Degree in the death of his wife of his wife, 34-year-old Valerie Kambeitz and her three children, pleaded not guilty Friday in Clallam County Superior Court.
The four bodies were found inside a trailer home after an early morning fire on Saturday, July 6 in Port Angeles. Court papers say Wetherington confessed to the murders to police.
Wetherington and Valerie Kambeitz were married in May. Witnesses say they saw him running from the trailer about 2:30 Saturday morning.
Valerie Kambeitz’s children, Lilly, Emma and Jayden were all under 10 years of age.
Wetherington remains in jail on $5 million bond.
