ENUMCLAW, Wash. (AP) — The FBI and Enumclaw police have searched the farmhouse of a former King County official who is the target of a corruption investigation.
Agents searched Allan Thomas’ property on Friday but did not make any arrests.
Thomas was the longtime commissioner of King County Drainage District No. 5.
Public documents show he collected nearly $500,000 in taxes from drainage district residents during a seven-year period. They money was supposed to be used to maintain 18 miles of stormwater drainage trenches around the Enumclaw area, but records show that $413,000 of it went into Thomas’ private bank account and was spent on personal expenses like livestock feed and equipment for his 150-acre dairy farm.
Thomas has denied wrongdoing.
