WASHINGTON DC – The U.S. Congressman for our area says he will support an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump.
Sixth District Representative Derek Kilmer made the announcement yesterday. He said he was waiting until after hearing the Robert Mueller testimony last week before deciding.
In a prepared statement, Kilmer says the Mueller’s testimony and the special prosecutor’s report show “clear evidence of corruption.”
Kilmer says he finds most troubling “evidence – on multiple occasions – of obstruction of justice”.
Kilmer says he understands opening an impeachment inquiry is disruptive and it may further polarize a country that is already far too divided. But in the end, he says he trusts the US House Democratic leadership in moving forward.
