FORKS — A Port Angeles man was critically injured in a logging accident.
About 7:00 am Friday morning law 911 calls came in of a logging accident in the Tyee Ridge area near Forks.
Law enforcement first on scene found 29-year-old Terry Tyler from Port Angeles severely injured. He was working for the Dahlgren logging company when a log rolled onto him.
Tyler had been working as a choker setter and rigging slinger on a high lead logging site prior to the accident. According to witnesses, Tyler had been setting choker cables onto logs so they could be hoisted to the log landing site by a sky line attached to a logging tower. Tyler was placing a choker cable onto a log when another log rolled onto him.
Clallam County sheriff’s deputies say Dahlgren crew members used heavy equipment to remove the log.
Tyler was transported to the Forks hospital and then was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle by a United States Navy Helicopter crew.
