PORT ANGELES – Clallam County’s unemployment rate inched up again last month.
According to the state Employment Security Department, the unemployment rate went up a tenth of a percent from July to 7% in August.
The rate reflects a continuing trend of rising unemployment in Clallam County over the past year. Last August, the unemployment rate was at 6.4%. This August’s rate is the highest August unemployment number in more than five years.
Jefferson County had an unemployment rate of 6.3%. The statewide rate is 4.6%
