SEATTLE (AP) — Get ready to pay more to ride Washington State Ferries starting Tuesday.
Fares are set to increase by 2.5% for cars and 2% for passengers. There will be an additional 5% increase for oversize vehicles on a route running from Anacortes to Sidney in British Columbia.
Fares are expected to rise again in May.
Washington State Ferries is also working on a pilot program to test reduced fares for low-income riders, which could begin next year if they can get legislative funding.
