ABERDEEN, Wash — Authorities said an Aberdeen police officer who was responding to a hit-and-run shot a man who had a knife.
Grays Harbor Undersheriff Brad Johansson said Aberdeen police were sent to a hit-and-run at a convenience store on Thursday.
Initial reports are that an officer tried to contact a male who was possibly involved in the hit-and-run and that the male was armed with a knife and shots were fired by the police.
The male was shot and taken to a hospital.
A regional team made up of detectives from Mason, Thurston, Grays Harbor, Lewis, and Pacific counties is investigating, according to Johansson.
