PORT ANGELES – Navarra Carr has now taken the lead in a close race for Port Angeles City Council.

After another 325 votes were counted yesterday, Carr is now ahead of Nina Napiontek by 4 votes. This is the first lead for Carr since election night. She had trailed Napiontek by as many as 78 votes in the close race. But Carr has steadily cut into the lead in late ballots counted since election day.

There are still about 45 ballots left to count. If the margins hold, the race will be headed to a mandatory recount.
