PORT ANGELES – We have an update on the missing person case of Joshua Simiskey.

As far as law enforcement is concerned, the last confirmed sighting of the 40-year-old Simiskey was on October 10 when a ranger gave him a ride to a location in Olympic National Park.

Since that time, there have been two possible sightings reported in Sequim at a pizza restaurant and at Safeway.

Simiskey’s family members have driven all the way from Utah to try to locate him and are now offering a $500 reward for information that will help them do so.

They’ve spent several days talking to police and looking into those sightings but are not convinced it was him.

Here’s his mother Janey Marvin:

“I have my own reasons for being concerned. I had just deposited a very large amount of money in Joshua’s bank account on the first of October. He had called me and wanted to help a woman with a motor home and even get her some clothes and get him some clothes. I have not heard from him since that several-thousand-dollar deposit. He messaged his father supposedly from one of them disposable phones and had said “I have given all my belongings to this person and I’m in trouble and please come and get me on that…the pier in Port Angeles”. He notified me and so we went out looking for him and we haven’t seen or heard from him.”

Marvin’s friend Howard is also in town and here’s what he told us.

“It’s not like him to not call his mother. You know what I mean? He’s a…he’s a mama’s boy and you know, throughout the years, he’s always stayed in touch with his mom. We’ve been both to Sequim, and yesterday we spent, I don’t know, probably an hour with the police up in Port Angeles, and they’re basically telling us there hasn’t been a crime committed, you know, so we can’t even check his bank accounts. It was a bunch of money sent two days before he totally disappeared, and the last person he was seen was with this woman, you know, up in Port Angeles that we tracked down, and she’s driving his car and trying to sell his car and giving his stuff away. And she was in communication with Janie up until the point she found out we were in town and then she disappeared. Like I said everybody I ran into you know, probably 15, 20 people, the homeless up there that know him and hung with him and, you know, the girl that he was with at the time. Then just one day, the day after this money showed up, she’s gone.”

Police say they’ve checked multiple leads on Simiskey’s whereabouts, including the reports having to do with his property and the possible sightings in Sequim. We’re told there’s nothing so far that would make this anything more than a missing person case.
