Kilmer to vote for impeachement

WASHINGTON DC – The U.S. Congressman that represents the Olympic Peninsula will vote to impeach the president.

Democrat Sixth District Congressman Derek Kilmer issued a statement Tuesday saying he believes the president committed impeachable offenses and will vote in favor of two articles of impeachment this week.

In a prepared statement Kilmer says “…this cannot be and should not be about politics – now or in the future – nor should it be about re-litigating the 2016 election.”

He calls the impeachment process disruptive and fears it may further polarize the country. But he writes his “approach is not grounded in politics or partisanship, but rather a belief that simply ignoring these allegations sets a dangerous precedent for future presidents – and sends a frightening message regarding our adherence to the rule of law”.

Kilmer is joining the majority Democrats in the House who are expected to vote for impeachment setting up a trial in the US Senate.
