suspect-in-custody

PORT ANGELES – Clallam County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested 31-year-old Port Angeles resident Justin Joseph Bryles Friday morning at his residence on Lake Aldwell Road.

OPNET Detectives developed probable cause that Bryles was in possession of stolen property and had burglarized Port Angeles Power Equipment on October 24th, 2019.

At about 7:30am OPNET Detectives and Clallam County Sheriff’s Deputies, assisted by Washington State Patrol SWAT, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Detectives, Port Angeles Police Department Detectives, and Homeland Security Investigations Agents, served Bryles a search warrant.

Based on information obtained from confidential sources regarding Bryles’ access to firearms and criminal history, Detectives requested the assistance of WSP SWAT in serving the warrant.

A day-long search of Bryles’ residence, detached outbuildings, and property led to the seizure of multiple items of suspected stolen property that included a Subaru Outback sport utility vehicle, two Kawasaki quads, a drift boat, a utility trailer, firearms, chainsaws, and miscellaneous tools.

Items stolen from the Port Angeles Power Equipment burglary were also recovered.

A total of eight firearms were seized at the residence.  The firearms consisted of two handguns, four shotguns, and two rifles. One of the handguns has since been confirmed stolen out of Oregon State.

A small quantity of suspected Heroin and items of drug paraphernalia were also located at the residence.

Bryles was taken into custody without incident and was booked into the Clallam County Jail on a long list of charges.

Bryles is a convicted felon, having 6 prior felony convictions for possession of a stolen vehicle, trafficking in stolen property, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, attempting to elude a police vehicle, and taking a motor vehicle without permission. Additionally, he has six gross misdemeanor and 3 misdemeanor convictions.

A second subject, 28-year-old Port Angeles resident Benjamin Robert Maley, was arrested on an unrelated Washington State Department of Corrections secretary’s warrant.

The investigation is ongoing.
