Pair arrested after police struggle at PA motel

3-cops

PORT ANGELES – Police officers made two arrests Wednesday morning at the Holiday Lodge motel in the 1400 block of East First Street in Port Angeles.

At about 8:30 officers responded to a report of suspicious circumstances. The investigation led to the arrest of a woman wanted for a Department of Corrections warrant.

During the arrest, 41-year-old Jeremy Ivan Leis of Port Angeles arrived on the scene and aggressively confronted officers Viada, Fairbanks and Perry in an attempt to free the woman from police custody.

During the confrontation the officers used pepper spray and Tasers to stop the nearly 300-pound Leis, who was still wearing a motorcycle helmet, and arrested him for assault of a police officer.

Leis was out on conditions of release for an unrelated assault and is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
