Following up on a popular story from last month, the retired Washington State Ferry that was for sale on eBay has sold for just over $205,000 (click here).
After being bought at auction in 2018 by Greg Jones, an entrepreneur from Florida, it was put back on the auction block last month with a starting price of $100,000.
The unnamed (as of Monday) buyer cast the winning bid at $205,100. There were 130 bids over a period of 3 days.
Theoretically the boat could sail again under the new owner, but a few steps get in the way of that, WSF spokesman Ian Sterling told SeattlePI.com. He says it has inspections to go through by the Coast Guard before it’s able to be used fully.
The Evergreen State was the first boat built specifically for use as a ferry in Puget Sound, back in the early 1950’s.
