SEQUIM, WA — A committee made up of past Citizen of the Year recipients has recently chosen the finalists for the 2019 Sequim Citizen of the Year award.
They are Crystal Stout, Deon Kapetan and Robin Bookter.
Crystal, best known as Captain Crystal, is a third-generation hot air balloonist with 30 years of experience.
Crystal volunteers with both the Sequim and Port Angeles Chambers of Commerce Ambassador Groups.
She won the Sequim Dungeness-Valley Chamber of Commerce Ambassador of the Year Award in 2018.
Deon Kapetan took over as the Director of the Sequim Irrigation Festival in 2011. Under her watch, the Irrigation Festival received the King TV Best Washington Event in 2014.
She serves as Vice President for the Sequim Food Bank and Treasurer for the Jeffrey Katerina Foundation.
Robin Bookter has participated in multiple Kaboom and Habitat for Humanity projects.
She has volunteered for the City of Hope Breast Cancer event; the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer event, and has volunteered with Olympic Medical Center.
Robin has also volunteered for many First Federal hosted events.
The community is invited to join the Chamber at the 2019 Citizen of the Year Award luncheon to honor this year’s recipient.
The luncheon will be held on February 25th at the Cedars at Dungeness in the Legends Room.
The cost is $30.00 for lunch for Chamber Members, and $35.00 for non-members.
