Kirkland cops and firefighters showing symptoms of illness

KIRKLAND, Wash. — Twelve of 30 firefighters and police officers in Kirkland who have been quarantined after exposure to coronavirus at the city’s LifeCare facility are now showing “flu-like” symptoms, according to city of Kirkland officials.

KOMO News reports the 30 had been quarantined after they had responded to calls at the LifeCare Facility in the days before and during an outbreak of COVID-19 that was discovered at the center. At least five patients connected to the center have died and more remain sickened.

One firefighter has been released from quarantine after completing their 14-day period while 26 firefighters and three police officers remain.

Meanwhile, the city says both Kirkland Fire and Kirkland Police are fully staffed and are responding to calls as normal.
