SEATTLE – KOMO News report the suspect in a 2011 hit-and-run crash that injured a 9-year-old girl in Seattle has been tracked down and arrested in southern Oregon.

The suspect, identified as Daniel Newell, 37, was arrested in Josephine County, Ore., on Wednesday after Seattle police received a new lead in the case.

Newell was booked into the Josephine County jail as a fugitive and law enforcement officials will now work to return him to Seattle to face charges, according to Detective Mark Jamieson of the Seattle police.

Jamieson said Newell is suspected of driving a stolen Toyota Land Cruiser that hit the girl in 2011, as she was walking with her mother near 8th Avenue North and Denny Way. He then fled and has been on the run ever since.
