PORT ANGELES – A baby, the victim of an assault in Clallam County’s west end, died over the weekend.
Seven-week-old Faye Yates died Sunday. Now authorities are working to upgrade charges against a Forks man arrested in the case to murder.
20-year-old Izaiah Calloway was arrested and booked into the county jail last week.
According to law enforcement, during the night of March, 18 – March 19, a Clallam County Deputy Sheriff and a Forks Police Officer responded to a call of a very seriously injured baby in the Forks area. They provided medical care and the tiny patient was transported to a hospital in Tacoma. The injuries were consistent with being caused by criminal activity.
At the request of Forks police, Port Angeles Police Detectives, responded to assist with the investigation. In coordination with Tacoma police, Calloway, was originally arrested and booked into the Clallam County Jail for first-degree assault, domestic violence.
