PORT ANGELES – It looks like school’s out for the rest of the school year, but starting Monday, April 20, Port Angeles School nurses are in and taking phone calls.
Students and their families will now have the option, Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm, to call and ask medical questions or talk about their concerns.
We spoke with Lead nurse Marlene Bradow.
“So, while nurses cannot diagnose a condition, we can assess and make recommendations on whether they need to seek some medical care immediately, or just to monitor symptoms and then we would you know check in on them, do follow-up.”
Bradow says a typical call might be about a condition, a rash, possible allergies or an infection.
There’s also a navigator on staff who can provide transportation to medical appointments, if needed.
