Signs of the COVID times in the NW

Signs of the times…Authorities in Idaho have issued a citation to a resident they say was in violation of the governor’s stay-at-home order after continuing with a yard sale despite warnings.

Rathdrum Police Chief Tomi McLean said homeowner Christa Thompson asked authorities if the yard sale would be in violation and was given a written warning.

Officers later returned to the home to issue a citation. Thompson later claimed she complied with police orders and didn’t break any laws. Violations of the governor’s order are misdemeanors.

In Oregon, authorities say two surfers were cited after climbing a chain-link fence to get to a beach that remains closed to the public.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says the men were seen Monday afternoon heading to the beach with surfboards in Otter Rock. A deputy saw them climbing back over the fence a couple hours later and cited 20-year-old Max Gause and 19-year-old Konnor Owens for criminal trespassing.

The sheriff’s office says the men admitted that a local resident told them the park was closed and that they would be trespassing if they did it.
