Port Angeles – The Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce announced today that the “Heroes Appreciation Wall” has be constructed in front of the Lincoln Theater on 1st Street downtown, and will be set up throughout the 4th of July weekend for community members to express their thanks to any person or any organization that has made a positive difference in their lives through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The temporary wall is open for public participation through Sunday, July 5, and the Chamber is encouraging local residents to express their personal messages of thanks and appreciation on small pieces of paper to leave plenty of room for the many “Thank You” messages that are expected.

Materials to write or draw messages are available on-site and Chamber volunteers will ensure the paper messages are affixed to the Wall, so the wind won’t blow them away. Individual messages can also be emailed to info@portangeles.org, where they’ll be printed and then posted, or dropped off to the box office window at Lincoln Theater.

The Heroes Appreciation Wall was designed by local artist Bob Stokes and was built in coordination with Mortenson Construction, the company currently working on the Field Arts and Events Hall in downtown Port Angeles.

And don’t forget, the Port Angeles fireworks show begins at 10:15 pm on the Fourth of July. This year the fireworks will be staged on the shoreline at the end of Oak Street.
