Couple, now wanted on federal charges, disappear after brief Clallam detention

CLALLAM COUNTY – What began with the brief detention of a man and woman on Sunday for trying to use a stolen credit card to check into the KOA campground on O’Brien Road has now turned into a manhunt for the couple on suspicion of five counts of Burglary of U.S. Postal Service properties and other charges.

The woman, 45-year-old Travis Reyes and her partner, 41-year-old Christopher Smith, both of Bremerton, were detained by deputies at the campsite and later booked into jail after being found in possession of two stolen credit cards. They were released soon after and given a date to appear in court on theft charges but have since disappeared.

A search warrant was later obtained for their tent and rental car that yielded meth, plus a large number of suspected stolen cards, laptops and other items.

In addition, deputies have learned that United States Postal Inspectors have probable cause to arrest Smith for five counts of Burglary of Postal Service properties and Reyes for ID Theft and other charges.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call Dispatch at 360-417-2459 or leave an anonymous tip on the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office website: clallam.net/sheriff/
