Clallam COVID-19 cases increase by four

PORT ANGELES — After four days without a new positive case, the number of COVID cases rose again in Clallam County.

Four new positive test results were reported Tuesday.

Health officials say three of the cases were adult contacts of recent cases and a teenager who contracted the virus from outside the county.

It brought the number of positives to 72 since March. Sixty two of the cases are reported as recovered. Three people have been hospitalized, and the number who have died locally in the pandemic remains at zero. The county has conducted nearly 7500 tests and there are now 117 tests pending.

Clallam County had a pause in positive cases since late last week. That had followed a marked uptick in cases health officials said were linked to 4th of July parties where attendees didn’t wear masks or maintain appropriate physical distancing.
