EVERETT – (KONP staff) We reported Wednesday on the arrest of a man in South Everett after he allegedly tried to kidnap a 12-year-old boy.
The boy told police the man grabbed him in a parking lot but he managed to fight back and get away. Police later found the man living in a tent in nearby woods and took him into custody.
That boy has now recanted his story and says he made it up.
He has since told police he was in the apartment complex parking lot and heard a noise from the woods, which he thought may be an animal, so he said he walked into the woods and found the 44-year-old’s tent. The boy reported opening the tent and seeing the man sleeping with a unicorn pillow and saw dolls inside the tent.
The boy said he was fearful he would get in trouble for being back there and said he made up the alleged attack.
Special Investigation Unit detectives continue to investigate this incident.
