FORKS – The search has ended for a man suspected of colliding his van with a motorcycle in the Sekiu area that left the rider seriously injured.
Deputies from the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office arrested 46-year-old Francisco Comonfort-Saavedra after he turned himself in Wednesday afternoon in Forks.
Comonfort-Saavedra was interviewed by Sheriff’s Deputies and admitted to leaving the scene of an injury accident on the Sekiu Main line last Saturday.
The motorcycle rider, 22-year-old Forks resident and hunting guide Caylen Phegley, was hunting bear in the area and hit the van as he rode around the inside corner of the roadway. Comonfort-Saavedra was in the area picking salal.
Deputies said at the time that it appeared to be an accident, but that fleeing the scene is a crime.
