Health officials urge last week’s patrons of local bar to quarantine and get tested

By: Pepper Fisher

PORT ANGELES – The Clallam County Health Department has identified the most recent outbreak of COVID-19 associated with the Port Angeles bar Bourbon West, and is now urging anyone who visited or worked at Bourbon West, 125 W. Front Street,  between August 9th and August 13 to get tested for COVID-19 and quarantine at home until 14 days after their last exposure. Eleven cases have been traced to the location as of Tuesday.

Health officials are aware of several other restaurants in the Port Angeles area that have chosen to close temporarily because of staff members testing positive for the virus. But they say that so far, there’s no evidence of outbreaks at any of those locations.

The symptoms of COVID-19 can be any of the following: cough, fever, chills, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose, sinus congestion, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle aches, fatigue, or a sudden loss of taste or smell.

If you are feeling ill, have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19, or if you were present at the location of an outbreak, get tested right away. To get tested, call your primary care provider. If you do not have a primary care provider, call the Bogachiel Clinic on the West End or the Olympic Medical Center Walk-In Clinic in Port Angeles or Sequim.

Testing will be at no cost to you, regardless of whether or not you have insurance.
