JEFFERSON COUNTY – A search warrant executed on a West Valley Road residence in Jefferson County Tuesday morning yielded firearms, drugs, a meth lab and two live hand grenades.
At about 7:30am the Jefferson County Sherriff’s Office along with OPNET, Sequim and Port Townsend PD, F&W officers, and State
Troopers, executed a search warrant at two homes, culminating a month-long investigation by Sheriff’s detectives. Detectives got a search warrant after probable cause was established that 46-year-old James R. McKay from Chimacum was in possession of a fireman taken from a Quilcene residence.
During the search, detectives located the stolen AR-15 rifle along with at least nine other firearms. Due to previous convictions, McKay is not allowed to possess firearms. US Navy Dept. of Defense agents responded and took custody of the hand grenades.
Detectives also discovered that McKay had the chemistry and equipment to manufacture methamphetamine. Drugs located include: Fentanyl and a combined half-pound of meth, heroin, and cocaine.
Detectives are still investigating the incident. McKay was booked at the JCSO for numerous drug and weapons charges.
