Prosecutors in Daybell case want to try couple together

FREMONT COUNTY, Idaho (KUTV) — Idaho prosecutors want to combine the criminal cases against Chad Daybell and his wife Lori Vallow Daybell, the mother of two children whose remains were found on Daybell’s property in June.

Prosecutors moved to join the cases Wednesday, saying both defendants participated in the same series of acts.

The state argues that assigning the couple to different judges and holding separate hearings would “create an undue burden on the state by requiring repetitive work and hearings.”

Police say both Daybell and Vallow Daybell lied to officers during the search for the children. The couple left Idaho and went to Hawaii, where authorities later served Vallow Daybell with an order to produce her children to Idaho officials. When she failed to do so, she was arrested.

Daybell pleaded not guilty in August to multiple felony counts of conspiracy to commit destruction of evidence.
