PORT TOWNSEND – Two people have been jailed after a stabbing on the Port Townsend ferry.
Officials say Gabriel Thomas Dignum and Katherine Marie Abittia were booked into Jefferson County Jail late last night on charges of first-degree assault, unlawful carrying of a weapon and obstructing law enforcement.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the stabbing occurred shortly after 8 pm as the M/V Kennewick was sailing to Port Townsend. One person was injured and taken to the hospital in Port Townsend
Law enforcement met the ferry as it docked and worked with the ship’s crew to search and secure the upper decks and collect evidence. They talked with all passengers and those in each vehicle before they could disembark.
The Kennewick’s scheduled 8:30 pm departure for the Coupeville terminal is delayed. The 8:30 sailing from Port Townsend would have been the last, followed by a return sailing from the Coupeville side.
