83,000 western Washington households lose power in high winds

SEATTLE — Thousands of people in western Washington were without power as high winds blew into the region last night and this morning.

More than 83,000 customers had their power go out as of this afternoon.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the Puget Sound area and on the Washington coast. They also issued a high wind warning throughout Central and Eastern Washington with wind gusts that could top 60 mph.

Here along the Strait of Juan De Fuca we’re expecting gusts only as high as about 35 mph tonight.
